One of the products that takes pride of place is the reforestation of Portugal’s uplands that, in 2008, ran into its seventh year. Originally dedicated specifically to the reforestation of the Serra da Estrela, the origin of our spring water, this project was developed in close partnership with the IPNB – Instituto de Protecção da Natureza e da Biodiversidade (Institute for the Protection of Nature and Biodiversity) and with the Serra da Estrela Nature Reserve and has enjoyed considerable consumer participation. We are quickly drawing close to the first million trees planted.
Other environmental projects included support for the first edition of Cook Fashion, launched by “hiG - works for nature” and the Muse Festival that dealt with climate change - “Preocupas-te” (Get concerned).
Besides this support, our brands regularly sponsor events that encourage regular physical activity and health values, such as the need to eat fruit and vegetables daily.
More recently, we gave our support to the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union, in the second half of 2007, which was an important landmark in national and international political life with the signing of the Treaty of Lisbon and the European Union/Africa Summit. During the six months the Portuguese Presidency we provided close to 300,000 litres of our products.
