As a company our obligation is to make a profit and so make it possible to remunerate our shareholders while at the same time attract new investors.
We are convinced that we can provide our shareholders with a fair remuneration, based on the regular growth of our brands on the high rotation soft drinks markets and on sustainable improvements in the efficiency of our internal processes.
Obviously we consider that the confidence of our shareholders and other potential investors also involves making the right investments at the right time and by submitting honest and transparent accounts.
People make companies. People are also special for SUMOL+COMPAL. Of course we want the best talents and we want the people who feel good with us.
Our commitment to our staff is to attract and train high potential individuals by having them face regular challenges that will improve them professionally. Regular training, an adequate salary and just recognition, in safe working conditions where there is an accident and vocational health hazard prevention, accompanying this approach.
To this end, we are committed to doing everything possible to provide them with worksites that are decent and comfortable.
We try to strike a healthy balance between dedicated young people with a will to achieve and those more experienced. This adds to the team work that we are always encouraging. But all those who make their contribution to SUMOL+COMPAL must have, and demonstrate, a capacity for innovation, assume and respect commitment and show respect and support for their colleagues.
Hiring people for our team is done on a basis of equality, regardless of race, nationality, gender, religion, colour, marital status, social class or political or sexual orientation.
The training plans we have implemented and that we continue to prepare, for all manner of functions, are an important contribution in developing our human resources, and they bring out the full potential of the future performance of our staff and, in his way, improve the company’s results.
Consumers are central to our business. Only by listening to and understanding the needs and concerns of consumers can we respond to their preferences, which in turn will lead to greater acclaim and the sustained development of our brands with the launch of products that will meet or even exceed their expectations.
Issues related to obesity, particularly infant obesity, balanced diet, alcohol abuse and a sedentary life style, are of course one of our current concerns in that we are looking incessantly for new, innovative and suitable solutions to deal with these problems.
We promote a healthy life style to help our consumers live longer and enjoy physical and mental well-being throughout life.
From the very start we have been close to the community that surrounds us. We will comply with the legal requirements applicable to our business and, on issues of food safety, we will apply HACCP methods systematically as well as good production practices.
At the same time, we will minimise the significant environmental impacts associated with our business activities, optimising water and energy consumption and preventing pollution, particularly the discharge of waste waters and solid waste.
Only in this way can we promote the well-being of communities and remain close to the communities of which we are a part and guarantee the safety of those that interact with us.
The focus of measures adopted over recent years has varied greatly and ranges from support for projects involving young people and solving the major social problems that surround them (we were founders of the Youth Foundation and the Marquês de Pombal Foundation and we are active participants in the Campaign for the Prevention Alcohol Abuse promoted by the Oeiras Municipal Council) to regional economic development and support for tomato and fruit production.
We also back solidarity and environmental issues with frequent and significant support to bodies such as Banco Alimentar contra a Fome (food bank) and Remar, and make our solid and continued contribution to reforestation of Portugal’s uplands, particularly the Serra da Estrela.
We recognise that part of our success is closely related to the success of our partners, upstream and downstream. We have always had excellent relations with our suppliers, although not overlooking the need to negotiate conditions that economically best meet the needs of our clients and consumers.
Furthermore, in supplying excellent products, through a good quality service, in well known brands demanded by consumers, we are contributing to the growth and profits of the business of our clients.
Aware of the importance of confidence between partners, we aim to guarantee long term stable relations as a way of increasing mutual understanding and the capacity to share.
