The Pombal Industrial unit is located between Leiria and Coimbra. It is responsible for producing the brands Sumol, Seven UP, Pepsi, Tagus, Lipton Ice Tea and Guaraná Antarctica, among others.
Currently it has a production volume for soft drinks and beer of over 200 million litres/year, in a total of around 300 referential systems.
Over recent years the company has made some major industrial investments in this unit, and in the past three years alone it has extended productive infrastructure. This has been done by installing lines for cans, glass and jars from Carnaxide, installing a Display pallet system with two palleting robots and by transferring equipment from Viseu’s beer production lines in order to provide an industrial unit with more productive capacity and flexibility. One of the most important investments made to improve environmental performance was the installation of a wastewater treatment plant to reduce the environmental effects of its business.
Covering a total area of around 70,000 m2 and with an installed capacity of 2 million litres/day, Pombal’s industrial unit currently has 10 filling lines in operation and a staff of around 250.
This industrial unit has a Quality Certificate under ISO 9001, an Environmental Management System Certification as laid down in ISO 14001 specifications and an EMAS II registration for the production of soft drinks, a project conducted with the support of Programa Operacional da Economia (POE). Receiving this certificate is an important landmark for our company and for our progress towards environmental management. This certificate makes us the first company in the soft drinks sector in Portugal to obtain recognition of an Environmental Performance for excellence and transparency. To date in Portugal there are only 82 companies with EMAS Registration
